Why HEPA filtration is important in your vacuum cleaner?

To help reduce the severity of asthma and allergy symptoms, a HEPA filter is an essential aspect of a modern vacuum cleaner.

All of today's Nilfisk consumer vacuum cleaners are equipped with a High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter. Each filter is designed to capture microscopic dirt such as smoke, bacteria and pollen - in addition to animal hair, dust particles and dust mites - ensuring that when dirt goes in only clean air comes out. This makes Nilfisk vacuum cleaners extremely effective in controlling allergens within the home. 

  
 
"True HEPA filters must be able to filter out 99.97% of airborne particulates 0.3 microns or larger1". 
 

Each model in the Nilfisk Extreme range is equipped with a HEPA H14 filter so efficient it is more effective than the human lung. The high grade allergen filter is designed to capture 99.999% of particles down to 0.3 micrometers including hair, pollen, bacteria and dust mite remains which are common sources of irritation for allergy sufferers.

For example, there are 100,000 particles per litre of air in a standard sized living room, but the exhaust air after a HEPA H14 filter contains only five particles per litre of air.

Therefore the Nilfisk Extreme's HEPA H14 filter, combined with the machine's HEPA-tight construction, offers the highest level of filtration available on the consumer vacuum market. 

  
   
Another great reason why the Nilfisk Extreme range - particularly the Extreme X300* - is great for people with sensitive lungs is due to its Active Air Refresher/Active Carbon Filter. This charcoal filter that has been treated with oxygen to trap particles, gases and odours does not utilise chemical filtration such as ozone. The combination of these two filtration methods makes these vacuum cleaners a particularly sound choice for asthmatics, allergy sufferers and those suffering from other respiratory conditions1.
